Flew Ridgely Thursday with Rick Niehaus. No thermals at all until 3:15 pm. Then weak lift up to 3500-3700 but nice looking clouds to the east and southeast. We worked very hard and eventually made those clouds. I ended up at Salisbury Md with 46 miles after a 700 ft save and Rick went a slightly different angle and got 51 miles. What a first visit to Ridgely.

You shoulda' come on out. Only 4 pilots were there, but all satisfied with the day. Brian Hardwick and Bob Gillesse started the afternoon with sled/ extended sled. They came back up to find me and Steve Padgett set up and ready.

We watched conditions for a while, and then Brian went for it at 4. Out and up! Steve launched, Bob helped me off, and then Bob went off with help from his brother in law.

Brian got 2200 over launch in lots of good thermals. Bob worked up to 3300 over. Steve was all over and got to 1200 over in his Falcon. I lost a lift area on the ridge and couldn't find it again, so ended p with only 600 over and just shy of 20 minutes. All the others were way over an hour and a half of soaring.

Everyone loved the day.

After considering the Sac and High Rock, I ended up and High Point, thanks to the coordinated efforts of JR, Sheila, Mark and Christy. I've wanted to fly this site for quite sometime and I've decided it was well worth the wait. I really like the great launch & LZ. Conditions were a bit cross from the N, but easily ridge soarable, with a few thermals to make life interesting. Sans vario (no voltage), I managed 500' over. Others did twice as well as conditions improved. After a futile attempt to run to the north end of the ridge, I bailed to the LZ for a slight overshoot of the spot, losing 5$ to Mark.

Hoping for HR on Saturday...

Total Trip Miles = 159 Time in the Air = 6 hr. 22 minutes. Millsboro DE = Landing behind the Bidget Motel right on Rt 113.
