Tom, Mike Balk, Mark G. and I decided to head to Fisher Road on Sunday. For some of us it was to shake off the rust, for others the fact that they won't be able to fly for a whole week (yikes!)
Winds were coming in nicely about 10 mph. We all soared and Tom and Mike went XC. Mike flew first and ended up about one mile short of the Knob, then I flew. I started following Mike to try to make the Knob and was past the primary but beat a hasty retreat when I heard him on the radio report that he wasn't going to make it - I flew 20 minutes. Tom launched next and ended up making it to Ritchie's Knob. He had to fly fast to stay out of white out conditions and ended up getting snowed on at one point. Mark launched last and flew for about 45 minutes - he was going to try to head down but couldn't due to white out.
Not a bad day all in all - glad we went!

Turned out to be a very good day. I sorta thought it might be blown out which is why I didn't solicit your esteemed company. Initially it looked that way -- very strong -- full pilot crew conditions. By the time I finished eating lunch it was down to wuffo crewable (but no wuffos). And by the time I got set up and ready it was primo -- 10 mph or so, and reasonably straight in (little west). Ran it off.
A message was vouchsaved unto me: Spring is coming. There were thermals. There was real power in the air. A modest bank did not result in minus 250. Do not despair.
1500 over. Coulda gone higher if not for p40. And the higher I got be stronger it got. An hour or so.
Used Judy Judy's drogue chute again for landing. It was dead cross in the LZ and I landed straight into it. Pretty neat. Think about it you topless pukes.
Harry and Emma J were very appreciative of the 30 bucks for plowing the road. I appreciate all you folks who have offered to help. Many Thanks.
