Went to Elizbethville saturday with Jim Carroll. We met Jesse, Shawn and Sheila, Bob B, Lenko, Bill B, Dave from the watergap club with paraglider friend, and numerous rc glider pilots. Conditions never got soarable enough for everyone to get up but Shawn did manage to make a few passes for the flight of the day. The rest of us either sledded to the main or broke down on top.

Doug.

Me an Ellis went to Sburg. Winds were mostly south--more than 90 cross from the left. We got some much-needed ground handling practice--I even got 1 1/2 flights--a wierd affair of the glider crabbing down the hill perpendicular to the hill.

On the way home we drove up Boonesboro hill, and what the heck, I thought I might as well, even though the site faces ESE it was 90 cross again--only this time from the right. Did a prolonged flat slope run but finally lifted off and had a fairly decent sled, all things considered.

Whoever went to a south site must have had a decent day. I am finding it quite unusual how far off the forecasts have been in relation to how it actually turned out--anyone else notice this?

Marc

FYI, It was pretty much WSW,becoming SSW later, at 10 - occasional 15 out here in SW PA.

Me and Deb got to Avonmore late, it was looking good, but by the time I launched (had only one helper) It had clouded up. Few lingering thermals, but mostly just boating back and forth a few hundred feet over in mostly rough air (typical for this hill when you can't get high enough) for about 25 min. However, it was probably much better between noon and 2:30 when there was plenty of sun.

With no launch help, Deb declined to fly.
