So So Day. Terry, Joe Schad and me. Adam showed up late for the glass off. Strong west and turbulent early with some 1,000 ft /min stuff. Joe Schad, who by the way is older than me by three weeks, wasn't exactly loving life in that Falcon. After he first launched I watched him drive into something that took him up at least 500 feet in 20 seconds. Looked like a leaf in the wind. He was spending a lot of time with the bar stuffed. I went south to the gap, hooked one to 2500 over and started across. Still 1400 over at the road. Had it made but decided to go back and wait for Terry -- no interest in a solo H-burg trip. Terry flew right over me across the gap and on to Short -- he had 3k over. Never saw him. Radio commo would have helped but I had a dead battery. He flew off the end of Short with 3k over and landed at Mt Jackson. Thought it was just too rough and strong and didn't want to risk the jump back. The ride on Short was not easy and he was at or below ridge level at times. One thing we both noticed was that while you needed a lot of VG to make forward progress, the turbulence made the glider a serious handful in that configuration. Adam had a nice flight in mellow air. "you shoulda been here earlier man."
