2 hrs. 3,515ft AGL. 1700 fpm climb rate...Gust front. Drouge chute deployment(really glad I had it today). Landed next to Frasier Rd because I could not make the LZ from a 1 to 2 glide ratio from 500 ft. downwind at 1000ft agl (with drouge collapsed I had zero ground speed).!! Hey, this is mountain flying. Good landing. Just glad I was away from the mountain when it came through.
Flew with Tom McGowan & Steve Kinsley.

Unfortunately the contractor that was due at 7:30 am didn't show until 3:30 pm so Karen wasn't able to join me. Therefore, a trip to the mountains was out of the question. The good news is that I got a chance to fly an Aeros Combat thanks to Chad and Sunny. I had an exciting flight to Snow Hill, MD for 3:01 and 60 miles. The lift was strong at times(550fpm+) and quite gnarly. I was really hoping for Virginia but must have wasted too much time because it over developted around 3:30 pm. I landed within 300' of a McDonalds and I don't even like fast food.. Sunny was kind enough to pick me up as it was a slow day back at the ranch.
We are now 8 days from Karen's due date so I don't think I'll be out for a while............really, I mean it.
