Lauren and I arrived with our friend John Chambers (a new HG pilot) at Woodstock late due to the inconvenience of having to work. Steve and Doug were already in the air, and John M. was preparing to launch. We helped Terry wire him off. Terry was ready to go but waited while I set up so he could throw me off before he launched. Talk about a nice guy!
Ridge lift was nearly perfect when I launched around three o'clock. Found a thermal that boosted me to eventually 3280 over launch -- a personal best. Saw Terry scratching down around the trees. No good deed goes unpunished. The conditions had softened while he waited for me. I was grateful he finally found some lift so I didn't have to feel too guilty. I flew for an hour 40 minutes -- another personal best -- and even managed a good landing to finish off the day.
Everyone had long flights, lots of altitude, though Steve was upset that he only soared 19 miles before he had to set down in Newmarket. My heart bleeds for him.
