Met up with Sparky, and his tandem passenger Mike in the LZ.I left my car in the LZ and rode up to launch in Spark's Truck with Mike.We started setting up and Dave Bodner showed up and started setting up. I launched first with Spark, and Dave Bodner on the Wing.(THANKS!) I had a clean launch, turned the ridge to the left, and back to launch (nothing.)I headed on out to the lz. I flew through a thermal on the way to the lz, but not sure how much I should sacrifice in altitude chasing it. Any thoughts on that? I had a good approach, and landing 15 ft. from the streamer, and on my feet.
I had fun!

The Tandem flight from High Rock yesterday was a sled ride, but fun the passenger, Mike Lee. Before we launched, two Pentagon Police and two bus-loads of school kids showed up.
Thanks to Andrew and Dave for launch assistance.

I launched last. It had gone really cross at 2-3. I could've ignored the cross, but I waited for a reasonably straight cycle. At 7 minutes and 130 (very briefly) over, I got FOD! Still, it was a beautiful day, and I'm glad I overcame my morning reluctance from the cold.

Me, Steve, Bruce, Joe and Gary
Winds were way too light at first. I launched first in my PG (probably about 30 minutes too early) and eventually sank out. Thermals were pretty punchy and I hit some big sink holes. I was pretty happy to make it all the way to the LZ.
Steve was next - he soared and got high for awhile. Then it was Joe, he also got over the top. Gary and Bruce went to fly Zagi's.
Steve convinced me to try again.
I didn't like my (2nd) launch very much, but that is history now. I was able to get up for awhile, although winds were S cross, it was marginally ridge soarable with some late afternoon thermals (still pretty punchy).
This was my first time looking down on the top of the mountain from a PG, so I'm pretty happy about it.
Afterwards, I joined Bruce, Gary and Hank for some Zagi flying at Gooney manor overlook.
Thanks to Steve for his encouragement and to Joe for the ride back up. Allen Sparks

Sucked. Too south, too light. Sledder. Actually I got about 20 ft over briefly. There is a newly posted no trespassing sign right where we climb over the rock wall. And did I mention that it is hunting season. The opening scenes from Private Ryan come to mind. Well, maybe that's an exageration.

Sparky
Good you got over the launch. At Daniels the thermals were 'catch me if you can'. Lots of fun but exhausting. Flew >three hours hobbling around with Juan.
One local HG showed up. Unfortunately he went straight down to landing. He told us he is seriously thinking of flying PG as well.
Cheers
Tom

Two nice teaching days at Taylors but with small turnout. 11/13 started out windy but got good mid afternoon and 11/20 was good all afternoon with 1 - 5 mph S to SSW winds. Students really had a good time both days. Richard you will have to come down and join us sometime.
