Great day of beautiful weather at Bill's. Not much lift to work with, but a fun day. Lots of sleds.

I got one extended sled and one straight sled. I'll log 10 minutes for the two combined. Good launches, easy approaches and clean landings. Launch was interesting. I have never seen so many pilots use so much of the hill before getting airborne.

Other pilots up included Brian Hardwick, Greg DeWolf, Dan Tomlinson, Matthew & Karen, Dave Johnston, Carlos Weil (welcome back to the air after a long absence!), Kelvin Pierce, Marc Fink (one flight each on hang glider and paraglider), LE, Ben, and another ParaBagger (sorry I missed the name), and another pilot I missed the name on (Melvon? Myron? hmmm).

Special thanks for Brian, Shelly, and Sarah for taking a carload of stranded pilots back to launch at the end of the day to get vehicles. I know they really wanted to hit the road and get home.

Thanks to Matthew and Karen for setting out the wind sock. It helped on a few landings when the wind shifted. Matthew gets credit for the most entertaining landing at the end of the day... ask him about it! Matt, do you really like the Fusion better than the Ultra Sport?

Craig,

The other HG pilot was Marlin Savell. The PG pilot was Pete Drescher. In addition to a bunch of us testing out Joe's Fusion (me, Dan, Brian H., Craig and Dave Johnson). Dan and I swapped gliders for a flight. Dan had warned me that his sail was really tight and that there wasn't much, if any, announcement of the time to flare. I ended up on a downhill portion for the last part of the flight. And as downhill landings go, I thought it was pretty damn good. I ran it out until the glider gently dropped onto my shoulders, the nose never tipped over, I stayed on my feet and the base tube never touched the ground. The fact that my feet weren't actually touching the ground for a good portion of the run I think is entirely insignificant.
As to Joe's Fusion, I prefer my Ultrasport. The handling of the Fusion is a little too stiff for me. I think Dan had a similar experience. It was also quite a lot of fun watching the H2s fly the Fusion. What did you think of it Craig???
Mike C. picked the Fusion up from me on Sunday to take to the tow farm. I can't wait to hear everyone's flying stories. Rumor has it that Mike Buckley had his first XC flight on Joe's Fusion.

Matthew (gonna make it to the tow farm one of these days, of Karen and Matthew)
