Well, it took several months to finally get a longer flight on my not-so-new UltraSport than John Middleton got on the "check-out" flight, but I finally did it. In addition to setting a PR for flight duration (2hr 48 min), I was also blessed with my highest flight (6,374 ft above launch!!, 8,274 +/- msl) and my second and longest x/c (41.55 mi!) from the third finger north of launch to Peales Crossroads 5 mi SE of Harrisonburg (perfect no step landing -- no witnesses! Fairly strong wind resulted in a near "parachute" landing)!

I'll save "the rest of the story" for the monthly meeting -- but suffice it to say, it was FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks a million!! to Terry who drove a two hour round trip from launch and back to retrieve me. Thanks to Steve K for giving me his cell phone number and his wife's 800 number so I could call and tell someone where I was! Thanks to Marvin and his wife who offered to give me a retrieve if I was going to land fairly soon (tempting). Marvin had landed just after Short Mountain, north of Hwy 271. And many thanks to Ed and Steve for "wiring" me off at launch.

Chuck (can't get this silly grin off my face)
