I visited Manquin on Friday and Saturday. On friday I had a tail put on the
Super Sport. On Saturday I flew it twice. The tow was straight forward.
Basically you just have to keep the glider pointed at the truck and flying a
little faster than trim.
Flying with a tail fin was a lot different than without one and also a lot different than I expected. The glider carries much more inertia into and out of the turn. During the first flight I had difficulty squaring the corners and getting the wings level when coming out of the turn. This all resulted in an ignanamous but harmless whack. I flew the second flight much faster, and without incident.
Steve Wendt seems to have his operation down to a fairly precise science. You might want to look things over on some sunny SW day. He's about 75 miles from the Hwy 234 exit off of I 95.
Dan.
