Bumming out over the forecast.

July is here, it's hot now, the punchy thermals and rowdy air of the spring have given way to the more laid back flying of the summer. Time to slow down a little, poosh out and adapt to it or sink out. The Memorial Day fly in was sort of a rain out and I was conspicuous by my absence. A tough call but I could see it would be dry elsewhere. I got a couple hours of flatland thermal flying on Sunday at the Towfarm. Friday was flyable but unfortunately led to a hard landing and injury at the North Mtn. LZ. Since this fly in was rainy, Labor Day should be dry.

On May 30th we had a work party and had quite a turnout. We had 5 lawnmowers and 3 weedeaters going. All three launches got done in time to soar in the afternoon.

Just a reminder, the Allegany county fair runs from July 19th - 26th. We'll fly everyday, weather permitting at 7PM but a couple days will be at 6:30 depending on when the main entertainment starts. This is how we keep the primary LZ open so we'd like to see a good pilot turnout. The parking lot fills up with cars so landing space is restricted. Doing an approach over a lot full of hot cars can be bumpy and demanding, let's keep it to Hang 3 and up. On July 18th we'd like to cut the grass at launch. Call JR for details.

Kelvin Peirce re-upped and made a $20 donation to the club. Way to go!

The Labor Day fly in is Sept. 5 - 7 at the usual place. Call JR and let him know what dish you're bringing.
